App Privacy Policy

Our commitment: EV Charge Buddy is designed to help you find EV chargers without compromising your privacy. We do not require user accounts, and we never sell your personal information.
Information We Collect
Location Data: With your permission, we access your device's location to show nearby charging stations and calculate distances. This data is processed locally on your device and never stored on our servers.
Search Queries: When you search for chargers by address or postal code, these queries are sent to our search API to retrieve results. They are not stored or linked to your identity.
Device Information: We collect basic device information (model, OS version, app version) to improve app performance and diagnose issues. This cannot personally identify you.
Usage & Analytics: Anonymous usage data helps us understand which features are popular and where users encounter issues. No personally identifiable information is included.
Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, your device may generate an anonymous installation ID that is synced with our backend so we can deliver monitor alerts. No personal data is attached to this token.
Advertising: The app displays ads from Google AdMob. Ad identifiers are anonymous and resettable. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.
How We Use Your Data

- Monitor Alerts: Anonymous device tokens allow us to send push notifications when a monitored charger becomes available.
- Improvements: Anonymous analytics guide our roadmap and bug fixes.
- Advertising: Non-personalized ad delivery to support free app development.
- Legal Compliance: Only when required by law or to prevent fraud.
Data Storage & Security
All personal data stays on your device. Favourites, monitored chargers, vehicle settings, and preferences are stored locally using secure iOS/Android storage mechanisms. We do not maintain user databases.
All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
Third-Party Services
- Map Services: OneMap & MapLibre provide map tiles. See their privacy policy for data handling practices.
- Charger Data: We aggregate data from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and charging operators.
- Advertising: Google AdMob serves ads.
- Analytics: Crash reporting helps us identify and fix bugs.
- Navigation: Directions open in your preferred maps app (e.g., Google Maps, Apple Maps), which are subject to their own privacy policies.
Your Rights & Controls
- Location Access: Revoke anytime in Settings → Privacy → Location Services. The app works with manual search.
- Push Notifications: Disable anytime in Settings → Notifications → EV Charge Buddy.
- Ad Tracking: Opt out of personalized ads via Settings → Privacy → Tracking (iOS) or Google Ads Settings (Android).
- Data Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all local data. You can also clear app data from your device settings.
- Transparency: Request to know what data we hold about you by contacting support.
