Quick Start Guide
1. Allow Location or Search
Grant location permission for instant nearby results, or use the search bar to find chargers by address, postal code, or landmark. The map shows available, in-use, and offline chargers with color-coded pins.
2. Filter & Compare
Use filters for connector type, power output (kW), and operator. Compare prices per kWh and estimated charging time for your vehicle. The "Summary" tab highlights the best match based on distance, price, and availability.
3. Set Your Vehicle
Go to Settings → Vehicle to select your EV model. This filters incompatible connectors and adjusts power estimates. You can also add a custom vehicle with your specific connector and max charging rate.
4. Monitor & Get Alerts
Tap the monitor icon on any charger to receive a local notification when it becomes available. Monitored chargers are saved in your list and can be viewed anytime from the Monitored Chargers screen under Settings.
5. Navigate & Charge
Tap any charger to see real-time availability, pricing, and details. Hit the navigate button to open your default maps app. Save favourites for quick access to your regular charging spots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a charger showing as offline when I know it's working?
Status data comes from operator feeds and may have delays. Try pulling down to refresh, or check the charger directly.
The price shown doesn't match what I paid. Why?
Operators can change rates without notice. Some chargers may have time-of-use pricing or membership discounts. We show the base rate from our last data update. Always confirm the final price on the physical charger display or app.
Do I need to create an account to use the app?
No. EV Charge Buddy works fully without registration. Your favourites, monitored chargers, and vehicle settings are stored locally on your device.
Can I use the app without location permission?
Yes. You can search by address or postal code. Location permission only enables the "nearby" feature and distance calculations — you're in control and can change this anytime in your device Settings.
How accurate are the availability numbers?
We aggregate from multiple sources with update frequencies ranging from real-time to 15 minutes. During busy periods, a charger may become occupied between updates.
How do monitor alerts work?
When you monitor a charger, the app watches its status. If it becomes available, you receive a push notification. Monitored chargers are saved locally and can be cleared anytime from the Monitored Chargers screen under Settings.
