Charge during off-peak hours. Some operators or electricity retailers offer time-based pricing with lower rates late at night or early morning. If you have overnight parking at an HDB carpark with an EV charger, charging overnight may be cheaper because demand is lower. Check the operator's app for any time-of-use rates.

Compare operators before you plug in. The operator price table above shows that different operators charge significantly different rates for the same area. Major HDB estate operators (SP Mobility, Shell Recharge, ComfortDelGro–ENGIE, and Strides YTL) generally price standard AC charging within the lower-to-mid part of the typical public AC range, while premium commercial chargers at malls and hotels can be more expensive. Always confirm the live rate in the operator's app before charging.

Consider subscription plans. If you charge frequently at a specific operator's stations in Central, check whether they offer a subscription that reduces the per-kWh rate. SP Mobility, for example, has offered subscription-based packages for condos and, in partnership with P.UP, hybrid EV charging plans that include discounted charging credits. Charge+ has also offered subscription plans for condominium residents. Always compare the monthly fee against your actual charging volume and check the operator's app for current terms before signing up.

Watch out for idle fees. SP Mobility and Shell Recharge both charge $0.50 per minute after a grace period if your car remains plugged in after reaching full charge, capped at $40 per session.
